The article “Hiding in Plain Sight: What the Death of Aldrich Ames Teaches Us About Insider Threats uses the case of CIA traitor Aldrich Ames to highlight how insider threats often arise from human behaviour rather than technical vulnerabilities. It reminds us that insider threats rarely start as technical problems. They start as human ones. It challenges the assumption that someone who was trusted yesterday will behave the same tomorrow and shows how silos and fragmented ownership allow risky behaviour to hide in plain sight.
